Actual Proof: Resume's and Interviews Not As Reliable As Thought

Now Hiring Specialist have the fire-power to show management that they are not getting the entire truth when it comes to job applicant delivered information (i.e. resume's and interviews). This is the reason for the many bad calls (when it comes to hiring certain individuals) that are made. This tells you how to fix these. We performed this test based on the following: Test Reqt

MANAGEMENT, SERIOUSLY ASK one of Your Hiring Specialist and they will tell you the truth. (Assure hiring specialist they will not negatively be affected by this request if answered truthfully- very important to get truthful answer)

Actual Test : Shows How EASY It Is To Give Positive Spin On A Résumé’ and Interview

Step 1. We identified the right person to prove a point to industry.

Step 2. Gave that employee certain rules:

1. Make changes to their resume’ to get a job quickly!
a. Make sure there is no lying in the resume’ (i.e. certain exclusions and positive write-ups).
b. Must have done that task (on new resume') before and know it very well!

Ex.

If their real title was Program Manager, as part of that position they can write on there resume' that they performed the following tasks:
  • Data Processing
  • Filing
  • Briefing Preparation and Holding Meetings
  • Managing Employees and Other Events/Tasks

From the Employees New resume' data, they wrote/performed the following,

    • Data Processing
    • Filing and Maintenance
    • Administrative Functions & Other Tasks

There is no stretch of the truth that each tasks was performed. Each task HAD BEEN PERFORMED! Only that the new employer is actually getting a more qualified and experienced employee for the task than he/she is paying for. The work is accomplished with accuracy every time.

Step 3. As for formal education, we recommended that the employee can only show degrees less than or equal to what they presently have.

  • Employee chose to have NO formal degrees be placed on the resume'.
  • Did not want any problems with being over-qualified for any job.

Step 4.When Interviewing, what is on the resume’ and what is told must be somewhat truthful. Just say "Yes" or "No". Do not elaborate.

a. MOST IMPORTANTLY: Do not make outlandish lies!

Step 5. To wrap it all up, the employees resume' show they were basically qualified to perform certain administrative functions. After reviewing the new resume', we too would not have hired that employee for anything but clerical work. They did everything that they documented but also much, much more. We felt satisfied with our results and gave the go-ahead.

Step 6. Start Looking!*

Employee started applying for jobs. When they were interviewed for a job, the used their modified resume’ (with fibs) and the interview responses that corresponded to that resume'.

They got the job the same exact day with that modified information! They worked in that new position successfully for months.

To ensure this was not just luck in finding a single job, the employee using the same modified resume' also obtained over 4 different jobs. That was the proof of this problem.

What This Test Told Us (and you too) :

- Résumé’s & Interviews Not Always 100% Accurate

  • These Documents Don't Always Tell Us Everything We Really Need to Know Before We Hire Them.
  • How Easy It Is To write what you need on a resume 'and say in an interview what the interviewer really wants to hear.

Very Important Issue Many Have Never Even Considered:

Job Applicants can also EXCLUDE certain information on their resume' never even having to explain it to the employer. Certain Issues like,

  • Why they may have been fired!
  • Went for a new job due to money leaving project and people hanging.
  • Even never placing a company/organization on there resume' so that they are not used as a reference because they would not have nice things to say.

and many, many more negative instances.

Need to consider that most employers never get the entire truth. This untruthfulness happens in almost every resume' and interview (some more than others).

Some would say, "I would never do that!"

If you were to look at their resume', there is probably one, two or more items that are left out or a positive spin or something of this nature is provided in an interview. They sound positive (as they should be in a resume') but in reality they are not always positive outcome. Its a fact of life that things happen. No One person is spotless! It's so easy to write and say things in a positive light. No one wants to hear negative items that will make them sound negative when it comes to getting a job.

We proved it for ourselves and your org that we are not always getting the entire truth most of the time and that it is very easy to say and write what is required to get the job.

It is not that people are lying about there experience and knowledge most of the time. It is that they are not always telling you the entire truth.

How could you expect the information you need to make a proper job selection in just a 1 - 2 page resume' and 30 - 90 minute interview. You really need more information than just these two tools. Job verification services and other tools are an added benefit but still does not provide you the additional information. It only verifies more of what is stated on the resume'..

It is time for businesses to understand that in order to find the right person for the job, there are additional items that MUST be used as part of the standard hiring process.

This additional information does not take much more time out of your already busy schedule but ensures you select the most viable candidates for the job than what you get today.

Can you imagine, Hiring the right person the first time - How much time and money you will save in your business?! You will increase your ROI by leaps and bounds!!!!

Hiring Specialist, tell management about these actual test results!

Hope you use this new found information to help in the selection of better people for your organization.
